Luke’s Down Under Bite Against Cancer: A Story of Resilience, Family, and Determination
For seven years, Luke Rogers has been a key part of Sherwood Stainless & Aluminium, serving as the company’s Group Information Technology Manager and leading major transformation projects with clarity, resilience, and a steady hand.
In 2027, he will channel those same qualities into a deeply personal mission: a great white shark cage‑dive in Australia to raise funds for four cancer charities that have shaped his life in profound ways.
A Journey Defined by Courage and Family

Luke’s decision to take on this challenge is rooted in a series of life‑altering experiences. Several years ago, he was diagnosed with melanoma, a moment made even more emotionally complex by the fact that it coincided with discovering that he and his wife were expecting their first child. The fear of cancer and the joy of impending fatherhood collided in a way that left a lasting imprint on him, reinforcing how quickly life can change and how important it is to protect the moments that matter.
More recently, Luke faced another major health battle when he was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Undergoing surgery and recovery while balancing family life and professional responsibilities demanded strength, patience, and perspective. These experiences—combined with the challenges faced by loved ones affected by cancer—have shaped his determination to give back to the organisations that support families through their darkest moments.
A Challenge That Mirrors His Character
Within Sherwood Stainless & Aluminium, Luke is known for his strategic thinking, calm under pressure, and ability to guide complex projects from concept to completion. The shark‑dive reflects those same qualities. It is symbolic of confronting fear head‑on, embracing vulnerability, and stepping into the unknown—experiences familiar to anyone who has faced a cancer diagnosis.

By taking on this challenge, Luke hopes to honour the courage of those who have battled the disease and to raise vital funds for charities that provide care, research, and emotional support.
Supporting Four Charities That Make a Difference
Luke aims to raise £20,000 for four cancer charities that each play a vital role in supporting patients and families. His chosen organisations represent the full spectrum of the cancer journey—from early detection and treatment to emotional support and end‑of‑life care. His goal is to ensure that others facing similar battles have access to the help, expertise, and compassion they need.
A Company Proud to Support the Mission
Sherwood Stainless & Aluminium is proud to stand behind Luke as he undertakes this remarkable challenge. His story reflects the values the company holds at its core: resilience, compassion, and a commitment to making a positive impact both inside and outside the workplace. Luke’s determination to turn personal adversity into meaningful action is an inspiration to colleagues and the wider community.
How to Support
Luke has created a dedicated fundraising page where supporters can learn more about his journey and contribute to the campaign. Every donation brings him closer to his £20,000 target and helps ensure that families affected by cancer receive the support they deserve.
Please visit his page and read more about his story, share as wide as you can and please donate if you are able to.
Thank you
