Sherwood CEO to talk about how to make innovation a core business process at UK Metals 2023

We’re delighted to advise that Sherwood Group CEO Michael Horan will be discussing the important area of innovation at the upcoming UK Metals Expo at Birmingham’s NEC on 13-14th September. 

This talk is the warm up for the Innovation Panel and takes place in the Technology, Innovation and R&D Theatre at 14.30 on Wednesday 13th September.

Innovation is essential to business improvement and growth

The session is aimed at impressing on metal sector leaders the compelling need to transform our businesses and industries through creative, innovative thinking. 

“Innovation is too important to be left to chance or the hope that someone has “a good idea” said Michael when asked about the session. “As leaders and management teams, we have to plan for innovation as a key step in transformation, and in this session I hope to provide some inspiration and practical ideas on how to do this.

The session and panel discussion will help the industry ask questions, share experiences and ideas, and reflect on how to drive innovation and change in your own businesses. 

Facing challenges creatively

The UK metals industry is not short of challenges. Whether it is costs, UK government industrial policy (or lack thereof), old technology, lack of investment, shifts in customer behaviour, or the environment – many organisations are too slow to innovate and we risk being left behind. 

“The good news is that every one of our companies has the opportunity to transform in the face of these challenges if we recognise and prioritise the need to do so” Michael added.
