Sherwood bolsters customer support with appointment of Ian Brooks – strengthening specialist metals understanding in key markets

Sherwood is delighted to announce that Ian Brooks has joined us in a customer supporting business development role that adds a wealth of metal processing and product experience to our customer facing team.

In a career spanning 25 years across the automotive and construction sectors, Ian has held sales management responsibilities with Minerva Industries & ArcelorMittal working on very large contracts with customers including Nissan, Honda, BMW, JLR, Aston Martin, Gordon Murray, JCB and CAT.

Ian’s role includes sales management across a number of areas, building and nurturing supply partnerships and managing customer projects. 

When asked why he joined Sherwood, Ian said “I actually secured Sherwood as a new customer when I was Sales Manager at Minerva Industries. I could see the potential Sherwood had, the investment, growth and future plans and I was very impressed.  When I was asked to join the company I had no hesitation at all”. 

His product experience includes various specialisms in metal processing – slitting, blanking, pressings, laser cutting, laser welding, powder coating & spray painting and chemical etching.

Ian’s addition will impact Sherwood customers positively and the organisation at large. 

“Ian brings a wealth of experience developing and establishing high value customers as well as a high level of sales development experience” said Paul Grimsley. “In footballing terms, it’s a transfer that is going to help us target the Champions League as we start to consciously expand into export markets”.

One thing to bear in mind, Ian is also not to be messed with. As an 8 year old, he became one of the youngest ever Judo black belts in the UK. 

Ian’s appointment in addition to other strategic hires and promotions comes at a time of record investment at Sherwood. 

New acquisitions and machinery investments over recent months underpin the company’s positive view of the future and demonstrate how Sherwood remains on hand to help strategic partners continue to scale up in confidence.
